Temporary Passport

If you have lost your ordinary passport or need to travel urgently, you can apply for a temporary passport. This passport is issued in paper format (A4) the same day as you apply for it, has a short validity period, and is intended for a specific and imminent one-way journey to Sweden. Your regular passport will be canceled when you receive a temporary passport.

  • Coordination Number
    • Note: Before the child can apply for a temporary passport, the child must have a Swedish personal identity number or a coordination number registered in the Swedish Tax Agency's system.
  • child/minor applicant must appear before to the Embassy or honorary consulate
  • Philippine passport of child/minor applicant, if any
    • Note: If child has no Philippine passport, you may need to go to the Bureau of Immigration for Exit Clearance.
  • both parents must appear before the Embassy or consulate with valid Swedish ID or valid Philippine passport and sign the consent form before the passport authority
    • Note: It is possible for only one parent to be present with the child, provided the other parent signs their consent form at another Swedish passport authority (e.g. the Swedish Police). The passport authority must e-mail the signed consent form directly to the Embassy. Signed consent form should not be older than one (1) month at the time of application.
  • flight ticket as proof of your imminent travel
  • 3 passport size photos, colored with white background (see passport photo guidelines)
  • the form Background data for investigation of Swedish citizenship
  • police report, if regular passport is lost or stolen

Application fee

It costs the equivalent of 1800 Swedish kronor to apply for a temporary passport. You pay in Philippine pesos at the same time you submit the application. A table of fees in local currency is available: Consular Fees (as of Jan 2026)

The Embassy only accepts cash payment.

    Apply for temporary passport at the Consulate in Cebu

    Since the Embassy in Manila is issuing all Swedish temporary passports in the Philippines, please take shipping time into account. Delivery costs will be charged.

    Information about temporary passports

    The passport is in A4-format.

    This passport is issued in paper format, has a short validity period, contains no biometric data, and is intended for a specific and imminent one-way journey back to Sweden or to the country of residence. If you are not residing in Sweden, you need to be able to show documentation of which country you live in for the temporary passport to be issued for travel there.

    The temporary passport is valid for the specific trip and has a validity period and area of ​​validity adapted to your needs. A temporary passport may not have a validity period longer than seven months. The length of the trip and presentation of a flight ticket must be made in connection with the application.

    Approval by destination country
    It is your responsibility to check if the country you are travelling to and through accepts a Swedish temporary passport in A4 format and that it meets any validity and visa requirements. Please contact the country's embassy or a travel agency for confirmation.
