All questions and issues related to residence permits for work and studies are referred to the Generalconsulate of Sweden in Istanbul or Embassy of Sweden in Skopje, to both Citizens of Georgia and holders of Georgian residence permit cards.

General consulate of Sweden in Istanbul or Embassy of Sweden in Skopje can assist Georgian citizens and holders of residence permit of Georgia and you will have the possibility to collect the card at the Embassy of Sweden in Tbilisi. Please ask them to send the card to our Embassy in Tbilisi, Georgia.
First step is for Swedish citizen who should contact the migration board in Sweden.

Due to ongoing situation, Citizen of Georgia or citizens with a Residence permit in Georgia should contact the General Consulate of Sweden in Istanbul or Embassy of Sweden in Skopje.

If you do not have a residence permit in Georgia, you will not be able to apply from Istanbul or Skopje.

The embassy does not certify marraiges.
After getting married, send in a certified copy (translated to english and legalised by notary) of the marriage certificate to the Swedish Tax Agency.
Attach a copy of both passports to the document. For more information, please check: Getting married abroad

We can assist you with a Hinderprövning/Äktenskapscertifikat if you are not registered in Sweden anymore.
Book an appointment at the embassy where you will fill in a document and also bring personbevis/utdrag ur folkbokföringen that proves that you are not previously married and that you are not registered in sweden.

When you bring in the documents we will create a “Marriage License” that states that according to Swedish law you are allowed to get married before a foreign authority. The document of “hindersprövning/marriage certificate” is valid for 4 months and costs 200SEK at the embassy.
