Local time 3:08 PM

Welcome to the Embassy of Sweden in Brussels!

In February 2025, the Government of Sweden decided to reopen the Embassy of Sweden in Belgium to better serve Swedish interests in Belgium and Luxembourg, strengthen bilateral relations, and strategically promote the already strong trade relations between Sweden, Belgium, and Luxembourg. On 1 September 2025, the Consulate General in Brussels was converted into an embassy. The Embassy of Sweden in Brussels is expected to become a fully authorised passport authority by the end of 2026 – beginning of year 2027, following its establishment in permanent office premises.

The Embassy of Sweden in Brussels primarily focuses on the following areas:

  • Bilateral relations with Belgium and Luxembourg
  • Political monitoring
  • Trade and investment promotion
  • Providing advice and support to Swedish citizens in emergency situations
  • The embassy also has the ability to issue temporary passports if a passport has expired or been lost.

The Embassy of Sweden in Brussels is led by Ambassador Johanna Brismar Skoog.
