Visa and Residence, Work and Student Permits for Sweden

Important changes for applicants living in Mozambique, Eswatini and Madagascar Starting 15 December 2025, the Swedish Embassy in Maputo will no longer handle migration cases.

If you are a citizen of Mozambique, Eswatini, or Madagascar, or if you reside in any of these countries, and wish to apply for a residence, work, or student permit, you must now contact one of the following Swedish foreign missions:

  • Embassy in Lusaka, Zambia
  • Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa

What does this mean for you?

  • From 15 December 2025, you must personally visit Lusaka or Pretoria for:
  1. Interviews
  2. Passport checks
  3. Providing biometric data

If you have submitted an application and are waiting for your residence permit card, the embassy will contact you directly.

 

Schengen Visa Applications

·         Applications for Schengen visas for citizens and residents of Eswatini will continue to be handled by Swedish Embassy in Nairobi in cooperation with VFS Global in South Africa (Pretoria, Cape Town or Durban). More information you find at: Apply for a Visa - Sweden Abroad
