For Swedes in United Kingdom

Travel information

Visiting the UK

If you are visiting the UK, you can enter the country with a Swedish passport. The travel document should be valid for the whole of your stay.

New British entry rules will affect Swedish citizens visiting the United Kingdom from 2 April 2025. Swedish citizens, including children, who wish to visit the United Kingdom from this date onwards must apply for an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) in advance before entering the United Kingdom.

From 25 February 2026, travellers without an ETA will not be allowed to board their means of transport or travel to the UK, unless they are exempt from the requirement.

Swedish citizens who also have British citizenship are exempt from the ETA requirement. They are expected to present either a valid British passport or a Certificate of Entitlement upon entry into the United Kingdom.
