You can apply for a passport at the Embassy in Tel Aviv, the Consulate General in Jerusalem, or another Swedish mission abroad. If you apply at another passport authority, you may choose to collect the passport at the embassy or consulate at the time of application.
For individuals aged 18 and over who have previously held a Swedish passport, the following is required:
Please note: Documents in languages other than Swedish or English must be translated by a certified translator into one of these languages.
The passport application fee is 1800 SEK, payable in ILS at the time of application by card or in cash. You can find the current fees in ILS here: Fees - Sweden Abroad
Once you have completed the form “Information for investigation of Swedish citizenship” and have the necessary certificates regarding your citizenship, you can book an appointment via our website – it is not possible to book an appointment by telephone or email.
If, at the time of application, it becomes apparent that the required forms have not been completed or the requested certificates cannot be presented, the embassy will not be able to process the case. In such instances, you may need to book a new appointment when they become available.
If the booking page says “no available appointments at the moment,” it means there are currently no bookable slots. New appointments are published on the 15th every third month, that is, on 15 February May, August and November. If the 15th falls on a weekend or public holiday, the appointments will be published on the next business day. Due to staffing changes, we are publishing available appointments one month at a time during the spring.
Due to high demand at the passport section, waiting times are currently long. Cancellations occur frequently, so we recommend checking the booking page regularly. If you are unable to attend your booked appointment, we kindly ask you to cancel it using the link provided in your booking confirmation email.
Passport collection is available on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 13:00 and 15:00 – no appointment is required. Passports and national ID cards are produced in Sweden and sent to the Embassy. It takes approximately 2–3 weeks from the time the application is approved until the passport is ready for collection at the Embassy.
