For Swedes in Hong Kong

Emergency passport

If your passport has been lost or stolen, or your passport has expired, and you do not have the ability to await a new ordinary passport (2-4 weeks), you can apply for an emergency passport at the Consulate. The emergency passport will only be valid for one-way travel home to Sweden (or another country of residence) and has a short validity before expiring.

The Consulate General has the ability to issue emergency passports in A4 format that are valid for an imminent specific trip to Sweden or another country of residence. Not all countries accept emergency passports, so it is important that you first check that the countries you plan to travel through, and the airline you will be traveling with, accept emergency passports.

An appointment is needed, please contact the consulate by email: generalkonsulat.hongkong@gov.se

Please bring the following to your appointment:

  • Copy of a filed police report if the passport has been stolen or lost.
  • A valid photo identification.
  • 3 passport photos
  • If possible, a Swedish "Personbevis" issued within the last month.
  • For individuals below the age of 18, the consent of a legal guardian.
  • The fee must be paid with a VISA/Mastercard or a bank transfer (contact us for details). Cash is not accepted.
  • Flight ticket or other document that support your route to Sweden.

To be noted is that your ordinary passport will be blocked in connection with the issuance of the emergency passport.
